September 4, 2009, Fukuoka – Miyazaki Prefectural Library Director, Mr. Noriyuki Ichihara, visited Fukuoka American Center, and with Ms. Tracy L. Taylor, Director of the Fukuoka American Center, signed a memorandum of understanding for an “American Shelf” project.

Through this partnership, Fukuoka American Center will provide U.S. related books and materials to the Miyazaki Prefectural Library. In cooperation with the Library, the American Center will also offer programs concerning U.S. issues and/or culture that are of interest to Miyazaki citizens.

Fukuoka American Center will donate 200 books to the Miyazaki Prefectural Library, including American fiction, children’s books and reference materials which will enable users to learn more about the United States. The books will be available at the Miyazaki Prefectural Library’s “American Shelf” early next year.
