Neighborhood Block Leaders Visit the Consulate
Dec. 3, 2008, Fukuoka - Twenty committee members of the Minami Tojin School District's human rights committee received an orientation tour of the American Consulate to learn more about the consulate’s mission. The majority of the committee members serve as chairpersons of local block association community groups in neighborhoods immediately adjacent to the consulate.
Principal Officer Margot Carrington welcomed the visitors and thanked them for their interest in gaining a better understanding of the role of the consulate vis a vis the local community, and the committee members then received briefings from staff members on the history of the consulate and the work performed by the different sections in the consulate.
