Case Transfer Request

From Tokyo/Naha to other US Embassy/Consulate overseas

If you wish to have your immigrant/fiancée visa file transferred from Tokyo/Naha to other US Embassy/Consulate, we will need to receive a formal request from that US Embassy/Consulate in the country where you wish to apply at.

Upon receipt of this request we will immediately forward the file for their processing. When asking the US Embassy/Consulate to accept jurisdiction, you may need to complete a case transfer request Form DS3098 and include it with your request.


From other US Embassy/Consulate overseas to Tokyo/Naha

If you wish to have your immigrant/fiancée visa file transferred from other Embassy/Consulate to Tokyo/Naha, you will need to complete the Form DS3098 and fax it to this office with the evidence of your Japanese residence permit (copies of your passport pages, Japanese Alien Registration Card, Military dependent ID card, employment certificate or student ID card) as soon as possible. Upon receipt of the completed Form DS3098 and evidence of Japanese residence permit, we will ask the US Embassy/Consulate where maintains your file to transfer it to this office.


Notice
Regarding K3/4 visas, applicants must apply for their non-immigrant K-3/4 visa at the Embassy/Consulate of the country where the marriage to the US citizen took place. Therefore, if the marriage took place in Japan, you must apply for a K3/4 visa in Japan and your file cannot be transferred anywhere else. In case the marriage took place in the US, you may apply in your current residence overseas.
